Introduction
The CESEI website consists of three public and private portals. Education, Research and Health Care.
The public portals are viewed by a general audience and can be seen when one first visits the CESEI website. In contrast, the private portals contain content that is only accessible to CESEI members. The private section of the Education portal is where our Learning Management System (LMS) resides. A login name and password are required to enter and enroll but not to browse the modules offered by CESEI.
Membership Registration
Accessing the Membership Page
In order for students and educators to access our LMS or research grant authoring tools, they must become CESEI members first. To do this, select "Memberships" from the CESEI portal menu, once on the membership page, click on "Apply for a Staff/Student Membership" (or in the case of some educators, "Apply for an Honorary Membership"). This will bring you to the Registration page which contains our application form.
Entering Personal Information
An application form is displayed on the registration page which asks you to enter a login name, password, as well as some basic personal information. Click on "Apply" after the required information has been entered.
If applying for a Staff or Student membership please make sure you select the correct membership type (Staff or Student) at the end of the form.
On this form users will also specify which portal(s) they would like to join as well as the status they which to have. (for example one may join the Education portal as a student or an instructor)
Confirmation
A thank-you message will appear once the form has been submitted, as well a confirmation email will be sent to the email address you provided.
Please note: You will NOT be able to use your account immediately as your application will need to be reviewed by the CESEI web administrator for verification and validation.
A second email will be sent to you when your account is activated.
Membership Privileges
Accessing UBC Library
UBC students and faculty have access to the UBC Library website. To access this site, select on "UBC Library" from the Education Portal menu.
Accessing Educational Links
CESEI members have access to educational links. To access these links, select "Links" from the Education Portal menu. A list of educational entities is displayed.
Accessing Educational and Administrative Calendars
CESEI members have access to the public and private calendars.
The general calendar is found on the main portal and can be viewed by the general public. In this calendar, the general activities of the Centre are announced. To view these activities, select "Events Calendar" from the CESEI Portal menu.
To view events that are pertinent to only the Education Portal, select "Events Calendar" from the Education Portal menu.
Educational portal members can also access a calender with events that are relevant to their enrolled modules by selecting "Curriculum Calendar" from the "My Curriculum" menu.
Administrative and private events are displayed on the same pages as the public calendar. Events are filtered by one's status with CESEI, its portals and the department that they belong to.
